Class on the Coast (COTC) Favorites

I'm sure all moms at one time or another come upon something great that their kids go crazy over.  I too, have found such a product.

COTC Favorite: 100 Ant Picnic

Living in South Florida brings beautiful sunny weather, but today the weather was not on my side.  I brought out one of my favorite games for my older boys: 100 Ant Picnic Math Activity Set by Learning Resources.  This is such a versatile set.  It comes with a board (one side has the numbers 1-100 and the other is blank), 100 ant counters (50 blue, 50 yellow), and instructions. Some activities that I use this set for are counting to 100, finding a specific number (I Spy), counting by 2's, 5's & 10's, sorting, patterns...it is unbelievable how many activities you can do with just one set.  I also love that the back of the board does not have numbers on it, but you can use a dry erase marker to write the numbers.  This is great for writing practice and to reinforce the numbers to 100.

My five and four-year old absolutely love when I bring this out.  My five year old likes to play "I Spy" where I say a number from 1 to 100 and he finds it and puts an ant on that number.  He also loves to count by 2's, 5's, and 10's. His favorite activity is turning the board over and writing in the numbers as he says them out loud.  My four year old uses likes sorting the ants or creating patterns with the blue and yellow ants.  As for mom, this set definitely gets my seal of approval!
